Frequently Asked Questions

1. How did The Red Wagon Ministry begin?

The Red Wagon Ministry began with a burden that God placed in the heart of the founder, Jody Stephenson. Prayerfully acting upon that burden, Mrs. Stephenson began seeking a way to meet the need for diapers and wipes in her community. As The Red Wagon Ministry formed she sought 501(c)(3) status and it became a fully fledged non-profit in 2010. Through the principle of good stewardships The Red Wagon Ministry endeavors to share the blessing supplied to our organization with the local community.

2. How is The Red Wagon Ministry staffed?

The Ministries Directors, Officers and staff are all volunteers. Because there is no payroll and little overhead expenses all donations received are used to provide for those in need.

3. How do you obtain your donations?

Currently, we receive diaper/wipe donations either through diaper collections or monetary donations from generous individuals, churches and organizations. Our 501(c)(3) as a charitable non-profit allows for all donations to be tax deductible. This also enables us to seek grants and to host events like the Cupcake Challenge.

4. Who is able to receive diapers/wipes?

Presently, The Red Wagon Ministry donates to several charitable organizations, FISH in Clarke County (540 955-1823) and in Winchester-Frederick County area Congregational Community Action Project or CCAP (540 662-4318). Please contact the agency in your area for how to obtain diapers and wipes.

5. Do you donate to individuals?

Yes, there are occasions when diapers are donated on a case- by -case need based on referrals and availability of diapers requested.

6. How may I have The Red Wagon visit my business or church for a diaper donation?

To partner with The Ministry in aiding CCAP or FISH call and schedule your time to collect diapers. Inform your organization/congregation several weeks in advance of the Ministries mission and dates of collection. Next, arrange to meet the volunteer who will drop off the wagons where they can be put on display for all to see and fill. Upon completion of the collection, a volunteer will make arrangements to pick up the diapers and deliver them to either CCAP or FISH.

7. Is more help needed to further the mission of The Red Wagon Ministry?

Of course, volunteers are always welcomed and needed to further promote the cause to - diaper the need - within our community. Please call to be the help and the hope by extending your hand to these families.
